The following photographs were made by my son, Gus. Born in March of 2000, Gus has been making photos since he was about a year and a half old. After burning through a dozen or so disposable cameras, he upgraded to a plastic lensed Kodak point-and-shoot (KB 22). A few months later he moved up to a Nikon point-and-shoot, the surprisingly capable One Touch 100. He almost always uses it together with his Sun tripod, as he is in the image above. He's become quite good at using a hand-held meter (many of my photos of train stations were taken using his meter readings) and he really prefers black and white film. He knows his way around the darkroom, too; like most five year-olds, he's a natural agitator. He controlled the Nikon 8000 used to scan the images on the following pages. And on more than one occasion, I've gone back to a site to reshoot something after seeing the photo he made when we were there the first time.
