film & cameras

The images on this website are shot almost exclusively on film, primarily Ilford Delta 100, though I sometimes use Ilford Delta 400, Efke 25, and Kodak Tri-X. I process the film in Ilford Ilfotec DD-X or Tetenal Neofin Blue and scan the negatives on a Nikon 8000 using either Nikon Scan or Vuescan. My cameras are a Mamiya 645, a Fuji GA645, and my old favorite, an Olympus OM1. For lenses, I generally stick to primes and examples made by the camera manufacturer. They're not necessarily better — lots of contemporary zooms are great — but limiting myself keeps the Ebay madness to a minimum. Among my favorites are a Zuiko 24 f2.8 and 100 f2.8 for my Olympus, and a Sekor 45mm f2.8 on the Mamiya. The images of my garden were made using a Nikon Coolpix 990, a nice little point-and-shoot digital camera, and I do from time to time break out a Canon DSLR.
